On the morning of February 23rd, we jointly held an online meeting with the Consulate General of Iran in Guangzhou. The purpose of this meeting is to strengthen bilateral economic and trade exchanges and jointly build a trade and investment cooperation platform for bilateral enterprises.

Vice President Wang Yuyuan introduced the overall situation and core preferential policies of Hainan Free Trade Port construction, as well as some of the key activities we have organized. Vice President Wang stated that Hainan attaches great importance to economic and trade exchanges with Iran. From January to December 2023, the total import and export volume between Hainan and Iran was 140 million US dollars. Among them, Hainan exported 72.83 million US dollars to Iran, imported 71.61 million US dollars from Iran, and issued 336 certificates of origin for exported goods to Iran by the Hainan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, with a visa amount of 38 million US dollars. With the continuous release of the policy advantages of Hainan Free Trade Port, there is great room for growth in the development of trade between the two sides. It is expected that in the future, Hainan and Iran will have greater potential for exchanges and cooperation in six major areas: food industry, manufacturing industry, tourism, medicine, technology and engineering services, and petrochemical industry.

Through this meeting, we have established a good working relationship and invited us to organize Hainan enterprises to visit Iran to gain a deeper understanding of Iran's industry and business situation, in order to build a cooperation platform for more Iranian and Hainan enterprises. Both sides have reached a consensus on promoting the establishment of a bilateral mechanism for industrial and commercial cooperation with counterpart institutions.
