Opening of the 2023 East Asian Business Forum in Haikou

On October 19th, the 2023 East Asian Business Forum, co hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the People's Government of Hainan Province, and the East Asian Business Council, opened in Haikou. Governor Liu Xiaoming attended and delivered a speech.
 
At the opening ceremony, Liu Xiaoming, on behalf of the provincial government, congratulated the opening of the forum and welcomed the arrival of guests from various countries. He stated that Hainan is a young province in China with open genes and an important node of the 21st century Maritime Silk Road, connecting mainland China and Southeast Asia, the two most active global markets. Hainan is geographically close and connected to Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN countries, with a long history of friendly exchanges, broad prospects for cooperation, and enormous development potential. At present, Hainan is accelerating the construction of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics, creating a headquarters base for Chinese enterprises to enter the international market and a headquarters base for overseas enterprises to enter the Chinese market, weaving a dense air sea international transportation network and international economic and trade cooperation network, building an international shipping hub for the western land sea new channel, and an aviation regional gateway hub for the Pacific and Indian Oceans. We are willing to share the opportunities of Hainan free trade port with all parties, and promote the deepening of the business community Dialogue, cooperation, and friendly exchanges between enterprises shape a higher level of regional economic and trade cooperation model. We will strive to build a platform for extensive and in-depth communication among all participants. We hope that through this forum, everyone can deepen their understanding, enhance friendship, deepen cooperation, and achieve win-win development.
 
Zhang Shaogang, Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the China International Chamber of Commerce, Shati Shamdasani, Chairman-in-Office of the East Asian Business Council and CEO/President of Indonesia ASEAN International Promotion and Consulting, Salak Morin, Deputy Minister of Commerce of Cambodia, Liu Zhendong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, and Shi Zhongjun, Secretary General of the China ASEAN Center, delivered speeches respectively. Vice Governor Ni Qiang presided over the opening ceremony, and Provincial Government Secretary General Fu Xuanchao attended.
 
The theme of this forum is "Joining Hands to Promote Comprehensive Regional Economic Recovery • Sharing RCEP New Opportunities". More than 680 guests from 13 countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, New Zealand, and the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions of China will participate in the results release, special speeches, plenary meetings, special discussions, the East Asian Women Entrepreneurs Conference, the 13th Malaysia China Entrepreneurs Conference, the Hainan Free Trade Port and East Asian Business Promotion Matchmaking Conference Business inspection and other related activities.
